Where to shop and eat in Zichron Yaakov (and how to read the kashrut)

Zichron is wine country, and eating out here is a pleasure. It also has a catch: many places on the Midrachov are not kosher, and Zichron is not on the national kashrut portal. Here is how to navigate it. Everything is in the restaurant directory, with a kosher filter.

How kashrut works here

The local rabbinate issues two levels: regular (a red certificate) and Mehadrin (a blue certificate). The certificate shows meat, dairy or parve, the validity date and the mashgiach's name and phone, and businesses must display it (religious council (נפתח בכרטיסייה חדשה)).

• The council publishes its kosher restaurants as a spreadsheet (April 2026) with 30 entries: meat restaurants, catering and sushi; dairy restaurants and cafes; and bars (religious council spreadsheet (נפתח בכרטיסייה חדשה)). That is the list I used.
• Several certificates are regular Rabbanut "for those who eat chalav nochri", for example Luma and both Tishbi cafes.
• Mehadrin places on the list include Ruben, Catering Lilin, Boulangerie, Mata'im at Ramat HaNadiv, Nichoach HaKafe, Nili Beit Yayin, Cafe Tamar and the HaGefen food truck.
• The national Religious Services kashrut portal has no Zichron authority at all, so use the local list. The old 2016 PDF on the council site is out of date.

The Midrachov

The restored HaMeyasdim St (the "Wine Road") is lined with wine cellars, bars, restaurants, galleries and shops, with a crafts fair every Friday morning and festivals at Sukkot and Pesach (council (נפתח בכרטיסייה חדשה)). The kosher places on the council's list are at numbers 16, 33, 37, 43, 50, 51, 52, 54, 56, 61, 66 and 68. Look for the certificate before you sit down.

Mall Zichron and the supermarkets

• Mall Zichron, on Route 4 at the foot of the town, is open Sun-Thu 09:30-22:00, Fri 09:00-15:00 and Saturday 10:00-22:00. Its anchors include Rami Levy, Super-Pharm, a Nike factory store, Castro, Fox and Fox Home, with a 12-screen Planet cinema and restaurants upstairs (Mall Zichron (נפתח בכרטיסייה חדשה)).
• Only one mall eatery, Hummus David HaMelech, is on the religious council's kosher list; the mall's dining page does not state kashrut.
• Shufersal Sheli is in the Pisgat Zichron centre at 2 HaDagan St, and Rami Levy is at Mall Zichron (d.co.il (נפתח בכרטיסייה חדשה)). The groceries list has caterers and the bakery.

Wineries

• Carmel's Wine Culture Center runs cellar tours for adults (18+), booked by WhatsApp; the wine shop is open Sun-Thu 09:00-17:00 and Fri 09:00-14:00 (Carmel (נפתח בכרטיסייה חדשה)).
• Tishbi's visitor centre is on the road up from Binyamina, with tastings by appointment and a kosher dairy restaurant (chalav nochri) (Tishbi (נפתח בכרטיסייה חדשה)).
• Zichron held its 5th wine festival on 3 September 2026 in Gan Tiyul and along HaNadiv St (council news (נפתח בכרטיסייה חדשה)).

Ramat HaNadiv

Entry is free; parking is NIS 30 a day, NIS 10 for registered local residents and seniors, and free for conscripted soldiers. An annual pass is NIS 275 (Ramat HaNadiv (נפתח בכרטיסייה חדשה)). Its Mata'im cafe-restaurant is Mehadrin dairy, open Sun-Thu 08:00-14:00 and Fri 08:00-13:00; book ahead, and diners pay only NIS 10 for parking (Ramat HaNadiv (נפתח בכרטיסייה חדשה)).

Films

Planet cinema at Mall Zichron shows many films in English or with English subtitles, and the council says seniors pay NIS 10 on Tuesdays (council (נפתח בכרטיסייה חדשה)).
