Health funds and health care in Zichron Yaakov

All four kupot have a presence in Zichron, but only Clalit and Maccabi publish full clinic networks in town. The Psagat Zichron mall at 2 HaDagan St is a small health hub, with Clalit, Meuhedet, Super-Pharm, Maccabident and the Mashov imaging institute in one building (Clalit (opens in a new tab)).

Clalit

• Psagat Zichron, 2 HaDagan St (04-6243000): the main clinic, with a Clalit pharmacy. It answers the phone only Sun-Thu 08:00-12:00, and on Monday afternoons it offers office services only, with no doctors.
• Zichron South, 11 Kibbutz Galuyot St (04-6297200), with the child development unit in the same building (Clalit (opens in a new tab)).

Maccabi

Maccabi has three medical centres: Herzl 48 (the main centre, 04-6398262), Ramat Tzvi (16 Hillel Yafe St, 04-6165060) and Halomot Zichron (16 Chochit St, 04-6898885). The call centre is *3555 (Maccabi (opens in a new tab)).

This is the most useful fact for English speakers: Maccabi's service guide lists about 65 doctor entries in Zichron, and almost all of them list English, from family doctors and paediatricians to a child psychiatrist. I put a selection in the directory, and you can filter by language.

Meuhedet and Leumit

Meuhedet has a clinic in the Psagat mall (directory listing; check the phone number with Meuhedet). The only Leumit listing I found in Zichron is a mental health clinic at 64 HaMeyasdim St; directories put Leumit's nearest general clinic in Fureidis (Kol Sherut (opens in a new tab)).

Blood tests

Morning lab hours: Clalit Psagat Sun-Thu 07:30-09:00, Clalit South Sun/Tue/Thu 07:15-08:30, and Maccabi Herzl Sun-Thu 07:00-10:00 (Clalit and Maccabi service guides).

Evenings, nights and Shabbat

This is Zichron's weak spot, so plan for it:

• Maccabi lists an on-duty doctor at its Ramat Tzvi clinic on Sun and Thu 18:00-20:00, Fri 15:00-17:00 and Sat 09:00-12:00 (Maccabi (opens in a new tab)).
• The nearest evening and weekend urgent care is Bikur Rofe in Hadera (35 Tzahal St, Mix Hadera, 04-6225030), about 15 km away. Maccabi lists it Sun-Thu 19:00-24:00, Fri 16:00-24:00 and Sat 09:00-24:00 (Maccabi (opens in a new tab)).
• The council names Hillel Yaffe in Hadera (04-6304304) as the nearest hospital (council (opens in a new tab)). A 2022 local report warned that going to an ER without a kupah referral can mean a heavy fee, so call your kupah first unless it is an emergency.
• In an emergency, call MDA on 101.

Pharmacies

Two are open on Saturday: Super-Pharm Psagat (from half an hour after Shabbat ends) and Super-Pharm Mall Zichron (Sat 09:30-23:00) (Clalit (opens in a new tab)). Maccabi also lists Maccabi Pharm (Herzl 48), Zichron Pharm (2 HaShmura), Carmel Pharm (63 HaMeyasdim) and Shaked Pharm (16 Chochit). See the pharmacies list.

Children

Both Clalit (11 Kibbutz Galuyot St) and Maccabi (Herzl 48) run child development units in Zichron. Maccabi asks for a paediatrician's referral and development questionnaires before a first visit.
